The thing that infuriates me the most (besides getting water on my socks) is when I purchase something and the price goes down soon afterwards.

Argh!

The piss off meter goes up even higher, especially if I had been spending extra time looking for a good price. Of course this becomes less of an issue when you shop at retailers with price guaranteed policies (e.g. Amazon.com). Unfortunately, not every retailers carry these type of cash back price-drop policy.

When I shop for something I really want, I generally go on a price hunting expedition. The problem with this course of action is that sometimes I don’t know when to stop. I’ll keep searching for a better price or keep waiting for the price to lower that the item eventually loses its utility.

Which is really stupid because I either end up buying the less-needed item, or just forgo it completely - which isn’t a bad thing sometimes, but it can become an issue.

I have eventually come to the sense that, no matter how much of a savvy consumer I try to be, there will always be something cheaper or better.

So the clear choice is, when you want something - just buy it!

Har har. Just kidding.

Finding a healthy balance between the two will probably work out better. You can shop till you drop, bargain hunt till the cows come home, or wait till the universe collapse again; no matter what you do there will always be something cheaper, and it’ll always seem to happen right after you finally purchase the dang thing.

The key is probably to figure out how much you need the thing, and when do you need it by. Then proceed to go into consumer mode as you search and compare for the best price. When you finally reach the time limit and purchase the Barbie Dream Set, I mean Star Wars Villain Pack, don’t stress out if you find it on sale the next day.

Because there is seriously (for some reason) always something cheaper.
