Woops, Bought Fake Flat Panel TVs (aka Oven Doors)
Posted by Cap in Woops, Bought Crap |
Indiana residents bought flat panel TVs off the street, only to find out they were oven doors.
Investigators in South Bend, Ind., said there has been a rash of oven door thefts recently, and now they know why.
Oh man. When I first read the story, I thought people were crazy (aka stupid). Turns out, there were some level of sophistication involved in the scam. Check out the story over at Wesh.com, and take a look at the slideshow.
I hate doing repost, but yeah this one is too wacky to pass up. Story from the Consumerist.

People get SO greedy at the idea of getting something cheap that their common sense goes out the “oven” door. Sorry, terrible, but couldn’t resist that one.

I look at the TV and all I see inside is cookies baking…..

It is usually the people who can least afford it that are taken by scams like that too.

this whole thing reminds me of those speakers off the back of a van scams back then too. they go around selling “high end” speakers, buyers return home only to find out they’re counterfeit crap.
I don’t know about other type of things, but I’ll definitely never buy electronics off the street. heh.
