Clothes That Are Worn Only Once Per Year
If I couldn’t have had a fun childhood — no one else can either.
What?
Me, bitter because I couldn’t be Darth Vader for Halloween back in ‘94?
Surely you jest!

You know, when I was a kid I always wanted to be a bananna…

We are in the thick or sore feelings because my 7 yo wants to be a storm trooper and the costume retails for $30. LOL
He was Darth Vader last year so I don’t feel that he’s going to be totally deprived.(:

I made a Chewbacca costume last year and sold it on Ebay this year. Be creative. Also I found another piece of crap that I think needs to be showcased on your site. It’s a toilet that’s a fishbowl http://www.fishnflush.com/

LOL @ Joe wanting to be a banana.
When I was growing up, my mom always made my costumes. You’d be amazed at what you could do with a set of sheets.

I’m glad I had a sister that sewed neato batman costumes for me.

How about wedding gowns? Or mortarboards and graduation getup? There are lots of situations where we wear funny clothing for one day.

hah. fine. many of those are exceptions, but they’re also a rip too. probably for good reasons though, it’s not like you buy a graduation setup everyday.
this should have just be a plain post about Halloween itself and not just specifically the costumes.
Dear Wookie: I shall consider the fish n’ flush!

Ah! Here I will disagree. Who’s to say that the costume doesn’t go into the playbox? There’s no reason why wearing costumes should be a once-a-year event.
For the adults who like to dress up – and there are a lot of them! – it makes sense to invest in a good quality outfit you can wear every year. (See: Adults who like to dress up, above.) I absolutely think it’s a waste of time to spend good cash money on crap costumes, but there are plenty of adult activities that lend themselves to Halloween wear: genuine martial arts outfits, real belly dancers’ outfits, genuine pick-your-historical-era outfits.
On the other hand, there’s no reason not to rent a wedding dress, after all. For many people, it would make more sense: you could rent a much more expensive dress than you could buy, and you wouldn’t have to worry about the cost and the space for storing it afterwards.

Rent a wedding dress… Now that’s an idea for a Halloween costume…
