Can I transfer less than the whole balance of my credit card? I have a debt at 8% now and can only pay off a portion of that before the 0%/12 month offers run out and I would have to pay a higher percentage. So I was thinking I would just transfer what I was sure I could pay off in 12 months. What do you think?

As an addition to your list... do not transfer a balance to an MBNA credit card. They will not let you retrieve a credit balance on an MBNA credit card account if it is a significant credit. They consider this to be "money laundering," even though it isn't.

oh yeah thats a good one.

they generally fall to those 0% for the life of balance transfer offers.

I havent come across one though, but I have seen plenty of those for 1% for life APR offers.

pretty tricky.
