Thanks for the tips. We’ve been selling and buying on ebay for years with great results. Ebay’s great because you feel there’s some insurance for your buying and selling because of the way they’ve set it up.

I don’t even remember. I buy things online all the time nowadays, from my favorite stores when there’s free shipping. Usually, you can find a great selection in the sale section! Much better than the stores.

Haha. I speak three languages and non of them fluently, so yeah. Besides being a personal blog, I’m not really trying to actively give out personal finance advice — but I do get your point though.

It’s tough to swallow information when its riddled with grammar errors (especially when they’re obvious to the reader).

But yeah, an issue I’ve been actively trying to work on.

Edit: Just spotted a major one.. “sawing” haha.. oh man.

At first I thought this was a decent blog after scanning a few posts, but upon reading more of this one I noticed a bunch of grammar errors, which makes me not want to take advice from someone who doesn’t know proper English. Unless it’s your second language, free pass…otherwise you may want to hire an editor.

Great tips! I think my first purchase online were some books from Amazon.com, I remember feeling a little wierd about it at the time, but now I don’t give it a second thought. But I do make sure the store I am buying from is reputable has a good track record.

Those tips are great. I just wrote two blogs – one about how most infomercials are scams, and other on how the online ads saying you’ve won a free iPod are also scams. If something online looks too good to be true, it is, but so many people just can’t help themselves! And yes, it’s always smart to use a good credit card for these purchases incase the merchants screw with you. DO NOT USE YOUR DEBIT CARD FOR ONLINE PURCHASES!!! If the merchant isn’t legit, they can drain your debit account immediately, and you may be held liable if you don’t report it in time.

My first purchase on the web was a Def Leppard When Love and Hate Collide CDS from the UK (It contains a remix of Pour Some Sugar on Me). I bought it off eBay.

Always check http://www.epinions.com/ and http://www.resellerratings.com/ before going with an unknown merchant. I’ve personally contributed to the second site, in one case I know for a fact that I saved several users from fraud (read: having their accounts drained) which I’m pretty happy about. Anyway *always* use those two, and of course *always* use common sense!

My oldest daughter loves stuff from the 1980′s and if I remember right the first time I purchased anything online it was a “Jem” (from the cartoon “Jem & the Holograms”) compact off of eBay for her.

Haha… this is great. My first online purchase was in high school — also for an oversized T-shirt — and it had a squirrel face with the words “Weeeeee!” — from Threebrain.com. Needless to say, my next online purchase was from Homestarrunner.com for a Teen Girl Squad shirt.

My friends and I were soooo coooool back then.

Shoppers should be aware of price guarantees when they purchase a product. Many retailers will refund you money within a certain period of time after the purchase if the price of the item drops.
For example Amazon.com has a 30 days Post-Order Price Guarantee. So if you buy a product on Amazon for a low price (after shopping around) and within 30 days the price drops even lower, you can get a refund.
You can use free services to receive price drop alerts and then claim your refund.
