E*Trade Online Savings $25 Sign-On Bonus
Posted by Cap in Deals and Discounts on February 26, 2008 |
Very straightforward sign-on bonus. Open an E*Trade’s Complete Savings Account, fund it with $1 or more and within 30 days you’ll receive a $25 sign-on bonus.
- No fees and no minimum account.
- $1 minimum to open.
- Currently 3.45% APY (recently changed from 4.10%).
- Bonus offer expires in 3/31/2008.
- Soft credit pull according to forums.
- Write down your account number at end of application process to link account.
- Send in your signature card (when you receive it) within 15 days or account will close.
Reported on various blogs and forums. Bonus seems to appear without issue. If you don’t see your bonus, contact E*Trade customer service via the internal account messaging center before you try the call centers. Will update this post once my own bonus is posted.
Update:
I can confirm that the bonus does work. It looks like my transfer of $1,000 into the account triggered the bonus. So you might want to try and initiate a transfer to get the bonus going, if you don’t see your bonus being posted.
Will most likely write a review post eventually, hence the deposit. Easy bonus for less than half an hour of typing and clicking. Check out the two penny interest I earned! Reminds me of my Bank of America savings account. Good times.

Just got my account opened confirmation email (opened yesterday AM), and was able to instant verify the linked checking account — pretty fast! Initial deposit hasn’t shown yet but so far a smooth account opening experience (always a plus for online savings). Will update when account bonus shows.

I opened an Etrade Savings account in Dec. The rate has dropped almost one percent since then and I did not get my bonus until I wrote in to complain. I also signed up for their Max Rate Checking account and have still not gotten an ATM card for the account.

At the end of the day, the savings account still pays a good rate compared to others and I got the bonus, but Etrade is a discount enterprise and as far as service goes, you get what you pay for.

I love etrade. I never had a problem with them and I had plenty of stuff opened such as CDs, different checking accounts, and savings. I use their online customer service and get answered within 24h. Fastest ACH in the business.

Mig: I always wonder if people read my hidden genius jokes (not). Woot!
Wylie: I have read similar issues that you’ve had, but it seems if you “fund” it through another additional transfer, the bonus will appear much faster.
Shraz: Definitely fastest ACH in the business. Mine was posted and credited the same day transfer was initiated during A.M. time.
But yeah, my bonus posted for those that were wondering. It looks like my recent deposit triggered the bonus, so if you don’t see your bonus in your account, get a transfer of $1+ going and see if that’ll help.
On an additional note, write down your account number that will appear during the end of application process. This way you can immediately sign-in to your e-trade account and link your “complete savings” account to your online access - no need to wait for the paperwork to come via snail mail.

I tried signing up for this on the 30th of March. Didn’t see the promotion listed anywhere in the webpage, so I called and spoke to a rep who told me to enter a promotion code during the sign-up process. I signed up, but never saw a block for a promotion code. I called E-trade (literally less than 10 minutes since speaking to the woman) and asked why it didn’t ask me for a promotion code and whether I would get the sign on bonus or not. The conversation took over 10 minutes because the new rep had no clue what I was talking about, he seemed like he had never heard of the promotion and even asked for the name of the Rep I originally spoke to. He said he would annotate our conversation in my account. We’ll have to wait and see what happens.

Deej: if you use the URL I have for etrade it should take you automatically to the page that shows the bonus promo images. http://www.etrade.com/25cash But it is getting close to promo end date so that may have been the factor.
What I’ll try is take a screenshot of that page (before it goes away) and try messaging their customer service through the site interface. You might get better results that way. With any large company, there’s bound to be an employee or two (or few hundreds heh) that doesn’t know about the latest promotions.
