Free H&R Block TaxCut Giveaway – Win a Copy of TaxCut
Posted by Cap in Deals and Discounts |Free burgers is nice and all, but giving away relevant and practical stuff is even better. H&R Block is giving away three copies of Tax Cut to readers of this horrific blog (see, there are perks to reading this blog, after all).

If you’re a procrastinator like me and haven’t finished filing your taxes yet, this will be a timely giveaway. Contest will end soon on next Monday, just to make sure you get a copy in time before April 15.
H&R Block highlights two important difference between TaxCut and TurboTax:
- Live tax consultation: One complimentary unlimited session covering one tax topic with a H&R Block tax professional is included. TurboTax will cost you $34.95 for the first 20 minutes and $15.95 for each additional 20 minutes – through a 3rd party.
- Live audit support: Included with e-file and provided by H&R Block tax professional or IRS certified agent. TurboTax charges $34.95 provided through a 3rd party or use self service form letters through the website.
Taxcut Giveaway rules:
- Leave a comment in this post for a chance at winning a copy of TaxCut.
- For an extra entry into the giveaway, Tweet me @holycap with a message.
Include #taxcutplz in the Tweet so I can find the message easily. - Enter an email address when submitting so you can be contacted if you win.
- One entry via each method, per person, per household address.
- Ends next Monday, 3/16/2009, 11:59 PM PST.
I’ll highlight more differences between the two tax software in a future post, but if you want to read more about TaxCut or other tax preparation software, check out the related links below.

OK, I’ll bite. I have to do them sometime, right?

I really wanted to get a copy of HR Block Taxcut Federal+State when it was on an Amazon Deal of the Day last month, but I waited till I got home and by then they were all sold out. I’ve been hoping they go on sale again soon, but this would be good too. :)

Not looking forward to doing taxes, but free taxcut would make it a little bit better!!:)

Would love to win this. Have been debating what software to get or if should just go to tax professional because I need to do a long form for the first time ever. eeeek.

I haven’t done our taxes yet. My husband and I are waiting to file his alien residency papers before we file taxes. But he’s been waiting forever to file those, so it’s taking me forever to file taxes. The consultation benefits from the TaxCut will hopefully speed him along if we win.

I haven’t done my taxes either but this would help a bunch!

I hope taxcut will find more deductions than turbo tax did!

Why are you people paying so much for something you could/should do yourself? Filing your taxes is not that complicated — I’ve done my own taxes the last 40 years (my whole working life). Lately I’ve helped my niece do her taxes and she’s got three ex-husbands, shared custody, and multiple jobs. It’s not that hard, just read the instructions. Now having said all that, I wished our tax codes were simpler and the instructions easier to follow. My motto is this: if an instruction is confusing, never call the IRS; rather interpret in your favor and move on.

I could use another look. I already used taxact and it doesn’t look good :(
March 10th, 2009 at 3:41 pm
I could use this for sure! I’ve used TaxCut since 1999 and always bought the software. I could use a free copy, so I can put the extra $$$ away to help pay for mandated switch to sewer (we are still on septic.) It’s a good thing, but it hits the pocketbook hardcore.

Interesting that In and Out Burger got more comments than the free tax software.

Too late! I already used Freetaxusa.com to file my taxes and got my money in less than 2 weeks. Spent it all within 3 days on bills though. :) Good luck to the lucky winners!

Chad: Thought someone may notice too. Although that was posted earlier, so it had a few days to build up. Course, that’s limited to only 3 states… I think if I posted this earlier, more people may jump in (most may have done their taxes already).

I have yet to start my taxes. I could use this.

Win one for the procrastinators

this would be awesome – my wife started her own LLC this year and I could really use the advanced features of Taxcut Premium to handle our personal taxes. Pick me, Please!

****CAUTION*****
H&R did my taxes a few years ago and I really took a loss. They overcharged and then did the taxes wrong!
March 12th, 2009 at 11:17 am
ME! ME! PICK ME!
I knew there was a reason I haven’t started them yet! Besides my typical feet dragging.
March 12th, 2009 at 11:43 am
I’ve heard good and bad about H&R, but I’ll take the free gift! :) Pick me.

I just found this blog while searching for 0%APR lingo so this is my first comment ever. I would love a copy of Taxcut – it’s my second year doing taxes and I’ll take any help I can get.
March 16th, 2009 at 12:27 pm
I’d really like to win this.

Hi there…Colleen from TurboTax here. Just wanted to correct a few items mentioned above. TurboTax does have free advice via Live Community, unlimited and for anyone. Our paid service (Live Tax Advice) is $29.95, not $34.95 as stated and it is done by in-house experts, not a 3rd party. Audit support (via free download) is also available to customers whether they print or e-file. Thanks for opportunity to clarify.
March 16th, 2009 at 7:31 pm
When it comes to taxes, I need all the help I can get.
March 17th, 2009 at 1:16 am
Colleen: Thanks for the clarification, I’ll fix the pricing and update it with other info. (Although I dont really consider advice from a community message board a feature of sorts).
Entry to the giveaway is now closed… there’s only about 30 or so submissions (including ones from Twitter), so odds are pretty good if you’ve took the trouble and left a comment!
