Colleen: Thanks for the clarification, I’ll fix the pricing and update it with other info. (Although I dont really consider advice from a community message board a feature of sorts).

Entry to the giveaway is now closed… there’s only about 30 or so submissions (including ones from Twitter), so odds are pretty good if you’ve took the trouble and left a comment!

Hi there…Colleen from TurboTax here. Just wanted to correct a few items mentioned above. TurboTax does have free advice via Live Community, unlimited and for anyone. Our paid service (Live Tax Advice) is $29.95, not $34.95 as stated and it is done by in-house experts, not a 3rd party. Audit support (via free download) is also available to customers whether they print or e-file. Thanks for opportunity to clarify.

Chad: Thought someone may notice too. Although that was posted earlier, so it had a few days to build up. Course, that’s limited to only 3 states… I think if I posted this earlier, more people may jump in (most may have done their taxes already).

Too late! I already used Freetaxusa.com to file my taxes and got my money in less than 2 weeks. Spent it all within 3 days on bills though. :) Good luck to the lucky winners!

I could use this for sure! I’ve used TaxCut since 1999 and always bought the software. I could use a free copy, so I can put the extra $$$ away to help pay for mandated switch to sewer (we are still on septic.) It’s a good thing, but it hits the pocketbook hardcore.

Why are you people paying so much for something you could/should do yourself? Filing your taxes is not that complicated — I’ve done my own taxes the last 40 years (my whole working life). Lately I’ve helped my niece do her taxes and she’s got three ex-husbands, shared custody, and multiple jobs. It’s not that hard, just read the instructions. Now having said all that, I wished our tax codes were simpler and the instructions easier to follow. My motto is this: if an instruction is confusing, never call the IRS; rather interpret in your favor and move on.
