Cap,
As long as you're telling people about government sponsored Financial education, you really need to check out the Individual Development Account Program (IDAs) from the Department of Labor.

This is an incredible program that can seriously help and enhance the lives of low to moderate income families and individuals. Basically, they help you learn about saving money, set a goal to save and hold your hand as you do so. When you've reached the dollar amount of your goal, they MATCH the amount that you've saved and GIVE it to you to help you purchase an approved asset: home, car, education, or start a business. A family can earn up to 37,500 a year and still qualify to start with, and once qualified, can earn more than that per annum. For people on social services, the money they are saving DOES NOT count against them when the DSS or HUD figure out their food stamps, housing subsidy or general assistance.

This program is for real, and can help people out of poverty if they want out. Of course, not many poverty-stricken people are reading this, but maybe you can help spread the word.

Check out www.idanetwork.org and thanks for your entertaining, educational website!
