PS – I WILL be cancelling my account there, and I’m not some broke guy in the “Occupy Wall Street” movement. I make a six figure salary and usually had kept 5K to 10K in there for them to play with before I’d move the excess to investments. It’s their loss, and I really hope they just disappear someday. Their customer service doesn’t deserve their current business clientele, regardless of what fancy features their ATMs may provide (when they are working).

This is true. I just got done being transferred three times and waiting 30 minutes before they disconnected me from the call saying they were closed trying to resolve this very issue. This is despite the fact that the ATM tells them what customer was on the machine and what checks he or she had taken at the machine crash. In other words, they just don’t give a crap. They know you’ll be calling them back since they know its a hassle to get a check reprinted usually, and so if you don’t do anything, the checks will just “disappear”. And if you try to get it resolved, you’ll be in for a world of hassle through their legendarily poor customer service.

My local BofA just installed one of these ATMs a few months ago and I’m almost ready to change banks because of it. The only thing that bugs me about the new ATM is that it’s the slowest ATM I have ever used. Every button press results in a ~30 second delay. The simplest of transactions take a lifetime. I don’t know if it’s the ATM itself, or if the ATM machine has a terrible internet connection, but it’s a huge step backwards IMO. I WANT THE OLD ATM BACK!!!

ATM ate my money last week…could not spit a $20 back out, canceled my transaction, and did not show any proof that I had attempted to deposit cash. Filing a claim.

Before the transaction was complete, the machine said it was unavailable and i never got my money back or have it cashed in.

Not Happy! Currently unemployed, let go from my place of employment of 10 yrs. I requested a small amount of money from my 401k. This took more then 2 weeks. Imagine my excitement Dec.24th finding it in my mail box at 4PM. 1st things 1st let me deposit this check into the ATM. I’ll be able to buy christmas gifts and pay my bills. At the ATM I’m only allowed to use $300 of this check. Thinking alright this is great, plenty for me to use till the check clears. Dec 25th using my iPhone BOA app. I find my checking account is -$281.00. I’ll have to wait till Monday to find out the check was sent back to me via postal mail. The name on the check did not match my account. I use my middle name and the name on all my pay checks for the past 8 years from my employer matched the same as this check. I am waiting for my check to be mailed to me from BOA home office (10-14 days) . A simple phone call, or even holding the check for me at the local branch blocks away from my home would have saved me a lot. My checking account is now negative over $400. This is the letter that was emailed to me along with the copy of the check.

Thank you for your ATM deposit to the above account for XXXX.XX. In reviewing your deposit, we found an item where one or more payee(s) are not listed on your deposit account. We have adjusted the deposit total and $XXXX.XX has been deducted from your account.

OMG, it is so disappointing to read this is happening to alot of other BOA customers. I am currently going thru the same thing with BOA. I deposited $1,080 in cash. The machine made a funny noise and stated it was unable to read all the bills. I waited for the cash drawer to open back up to return the bills and it never did! All it did was shoot my ATM card back out. Afraid the next person would drive up and get my money, I then attempted to do a balance inquiry to see if it had posted anything to my account! NOPE! No money, no receipt! PISSED! So I went immediately into the bank, and they shoot me to the 800#. Bank issued the temp credit, but then I got a letter last week stating they were reversing the credit! Letter stated they couldn’t locate the cash and the ATM balanced. ARE YOU FREAKIN SERIOUS, IMPOSSIBLE?!?!?! At this point, I’m LIVID and DISGUSTED! I call them back and tell them to keep my case opened and FIND MY MONEY!!! I kept askign the rep…..what does the tape show? Surely it shows me putting cash into the machine!! The rep advises me to file a police report just so they can request the tapes. Can you beleive that, they were about to close the case and never bothered to review the tapes!! I called back and gave them my police report #, I’ve had an BOA investigator call me back (at my request) to tell me they are waiting on the tapes and she hopes to provide me a decision on Friday! I am hoping she calls with good news because if not, I am going to pursue this thing like its my full time job!! Who has $1,080 to give away……..I certainly DO NOT!!

i put in a cash deposit of $600 into a BofA atm and the screen said you just deposited $500 instead of $600. i took the receipt and ran inside and they told me i had to call the 1-800. i did and they issued me a $100 credit but said it would take 6 weeks for them to check the atm and resolve the claim. i just now got the letter in the mail and it said they never found any extra cash in the atm so they are taking the $100 back out of my account. i just did a few google searches and see a lot of cases like this. i really feel like they could be scamming with this and if no one posts or complains they will get away with it. i am going to post my story along with others and also file a complaint with the BBB.

HATE the new ATMS!!! The whole point of an ATM is CONVENIENCE. When you try to put in cash and all it does is spit it back out at you, you then have to go wait in line to deposit it with a teller!!! Pain in the a**. Not to mention it being a security risk, standing there furtively trying to stuff a wad of cash into the machine with a bunch of strangers watching it be spit back out you. Hello next robbery victim!!! I’ve complained to every teller I’ve seen since these ATMs were installed and they have all been rude and dismissive. If I get robbed because of one of these piece-of-crap machines, I’m suing Chase. Let THEM pay for my kids’ college!

The automatic check reading feature is nice, but I HATE HATE HATE these new BoA ATMs. They are extremely slow, resulting in waiting-in-drive-up-line-rage, and the user interface is terrible. It seems like they tried to make up for the extreme slowness of the hardware/software by giving you extra options on each screen to avoid a few button presses. But the extra clutter on each screen forces the user to read everything and take even longer to choose. If the damn thing didn’t take a good 15 seconds to respond every time you press a button then they wouldn’t have been tempted to crap up the interface.

same thing happened to me yesterday . . put 5 x 100$ bills . . . and the machine said could not accept some of your cash, please try again later. Made the beeping noise as if its gonna spit the unaccepted cash ( all the bills were new BTW) and did nothing. The damn door didnt open and i was standing in front of the machine like a dumbass . It printed a recipt and said some of the cash cant be processed or returned . Only got 300 out of the 500 i put in. Got the temp credit though from the claim but what a ripoff. Ill close my account the moment this claim goes through (or not)

This is the worst thing I’ve ever seen.

The machine puts your checks up on the screen!

Seriously. Lets consider this for about a half second. OK. Still don’t get it? I don’t think I or anyone else can help you if you still don’t get it.

So now the address of the person who cut you the check, the amount of the check, the signature of the person who wrote the check is ON THE SCREEN.

HELLO PEOPLE. WAKE UP. THIS IS YOUR PRIVACY SPEAKING.

Identity theft is the number one form of theft in most cities and now you are going to willfully give out say your salary, your business clients, the amounts and nature of checks that you receive from people up on a nice big colorful screen for the whole world (including everyone in line behind you, not to mention the guy with the $200 22x HD camera standing 3 blocks away!) to see.

Again, ARE YOU PEOPLE MAD???
Now I’m not a big privacy advocate or anything but this is just plain CREEPY.

I thought these were pretty cool, until a windy day like today. While making a deposit at the Bank of America branch at 135th & Antioch in Overland Park, KS’s drive-up ATM. I put my cash, lightweight pieces of paper, of course, into the little, open, box, and in the few seconds before the metal door closed, the strong wind blew it out of the little tray and off it went, across the parking lot and across the street. Of course being in a drive-through ATM your car door is up against the ATM so I had no chance to get out in time. I went inside to tell my tale to the bank’s managers, only to be told that the bank would not hold themselves accountable for their ATM technology. So I filed a “formal” complaint via letter with their corporate office, even filed a police report, and contacted the local news. We’ll see.

this past friday i stopped off to deposit 2 insurence checks, 1 was accepted the 2nd was not, it ate my check and did not give me a recipt! i waited 20 minutes at that chase atm with know results, i now am going through hell with chase bank to prove i put the checks in there.. save yourself this abuse dont use atms!!!!

This article needs a re-write. The machines are great when they work. However, I have found that half the time, I can’t deposit a perfectly readable, brand new paycheck, and the system DOES NOT just accept it and let me enter the amount. It spits it right back and tells me that I have not deposited an acceptable check. What a hassle! Also, how inconvenient this is for businesses or those with many checks to deposit. Unreliable and unacceptable…

the dawgone thing ate my pay check..called customer srvc (claims) and was harrassed by ‘dominique’…now i also have a 45 day wait to se if they keep my money..or is it my money? b of a…real smooth (i am customer since ’73..now i think the former wamu (chase) might get me to cross the street…b of a care? i don’t think they even care about themselves..so don’t think they even know cutomers needs…hey, keep the change! there’s a real helpful program… how ’bout giving me my pay check, jerks!!

I Hate these new ATM’s also, I have to deposit multichecks for my business. I had to spend 40 minutes in line the other day, because the MNGR, could care less about my needs. I am not going to stand in line and indvidually deposit 1 check at a time into the ATM. BofA does not care about it’s Business Customers. I am changing Banks!!!!
