Woman Scammed Out of $400,000 Over Course of Two Years
Posted by Cap in Miscellaneous |
Argh. Stories like these always makes me cringe.
Clouded by offer of $26.6 million dollars, a woman in Oregon sent out over $400,000 to Nigerian email scammers over the course of two years — even after her family members and bank officials told her to stop.
Obsession? Greed? Read the story and watch the video to get a better feel.
The sad truth is classic scams like these will always be prevalent, and as time pass, they’ll simply occur through different mediums.

I think it was only one woman involved.

Ah woops. Thanks for that. Should have spotted that especially since I typed it again as “a women…”

It doesn’t matter if they have a name that looks familiar or not. You don’t need to send money to get money, and terrorists have nothing to do with her grandfather (presumably), and sheesh. She doesn’t feel like an easy mark, but if you’re dumb enough to send $400,000 to random strangers in foreign countries **who are well known for their e-mail scamming**, wipe out retirement accounts and put yourself in financial ruin, well, I’d have to say you’re not a moving target.

Got what she deserved. Even IF she was the only person left alive who didn’t know about this scam, she had people telling her it was a scam.
She got what she deserved from her blind greed and utter stupidity.
She doesn’t even deserve the space on your blog.

Man you guys are harsh. But yeah agreed that she basically reaps what she sow.

Pathetic. I love the part where she says, “I’m not a sucker” and backs it up with knowing sign language, then goes into how the bank, FBI, and other authorities repeatedly told her it was a scam and she kept ruining the lives of everyone around her to pursue her dreams of greed.
You are a sucker.

What I’d like to know is how she’s planning to recoup her loses in 3-4 years! Tap the federal bailout funds? Sell the movie rights? Join the lecture circuit? Go bankrupt? Invent her own scam and ask for donations from a sympathic public? Now that she’s gone public, she’ll probably get some much needed HELP.

I really feel sorry for her husband. His IRA and dreams of a comfortable retirement and travel are gone. You only have one life and she has ruined his. My heart breaks for him.

In this day and age, how could she be so dumb? I wouldn’t feel sorry for her though because if she had 400k to throw away, she probably has more stashed somewhere. What kind of idiot is she?? And she’s a nurse? I wouldn’t want her looking after me or my dog. Anybody that stupid and gullible doesn’t have common sense. I wonder how many patients she messed up while working as a nurse. Complete idiot and loser. I have no sympathy for her at all.
