Are You Losing Sleep Over Money?
Posted by Cap in Personal Finance |Just saw this on CNN at four in the morning: a latest survey released by ComPsych Corporation shows that nine out of ten Americans are losing sleep over financial worries.
Don’t get me wrong, I’m staying up to teach this 12-year-old kid in Australia who’s the real king in Call of Duty 4 — how dare he knifes me while I’m refilling my bowl of Cap’n Crunch!?
Here’s the survey break down:
- 30% worry about cost of living
- 29% worry about credit card debt
- 14% worry about mortgage payment
- 13% worry about retirement savings
- 3% worry about childrens’ tuition
- 3% worry about health care costs
- and 8% aren’t losing any sleep
And here’s the amazing interactive poll:
[poll=5]

I’d like to see the finances of these people losing sleep.
My guess is that they don’t save for emergencies, they overextend their budget, they’re deeply in debt, and they’re invested in single stocks.
Am I right?

Kevin: That may not not necessarily be true though. They can be doing everything right but still losing sleep over their retirement accounts or children’s tuition funds due to market’s movement.
Looks like most of us are chugging along just fine though. Guess asking an audience of personal finance blog readers will skew the results a bit — then again the survey’s suggestion of 9 out of 10 seems extraordinary high…

Yes, I heard this CNN report and thought 9 out of 10 is way too high. Sounds like they wanted to spread some kind of hysteria. Overall I think everyone will find a way to stay afloat.
