Simplicity (in Personal Finance) Usually Wins
Posted by Cap in Personal Finance |So you have lots o’ little schemes to make money—because you can always use more money.
You got the side business making money from doing whatever, that annoying blog in a niche category making scraps, you fill out online surveys and you take on thousands of dollars in debt to make hundreds—and your close friend knows it all and she scoffs at your endeavors.
“I don’t know why you bother with all those little schemes of yours.” says close-friend-#1.
Close-friend-#1′s Simple Rule to Wealth: Work hard. Save money. Spend within means.
You would like to argue till your face turns blue, but you can’t because that’s the truth. All those funny little money making schemes of yours doesn’t beat out close-friend-#1′s simple path to wealth. The evidences speaks for itself. You’re both close enough that you know each other’s net worth. You know that her net worth is twice of yours (as in double, twofold, super-sized, two times five digit)—and she knows it too.
What a bitch.

It may not beat number 1, but combine the strategies and you have a winner.

I figure if you’re trying to make real money off the side businesses, you’re likely to be disappointed.
On the other hand, if you see them as a hobby that you enjoy, then any money you do make is a bonus!

Well, of course I do both.
I think for the side businesses, I get as much as I put into it. So the hobby-view for now, as mentioned, isn’t so bad I guess.
Alas, what is this job thing I keep hearing of?
