I went to myFICO.com's website to inquire about and possibly purchase myFICO.com’s FICO Score Reports (mentioned in the article above for $47.85) and there was NO mention of any product by the name 'FICO Score Reports' or 'FICO Deluxe'. The closest product (at least pricewise) was Suze Orman's FICO® Kit Platinum ($49.95 one-time) but that is a 1 year subscription with many more features than just the 3 scores and omits the Experian score. How do you find the FICO Score Reports product or is it still available?

I used Myfico to pull my Transunion score and then pulled my score from the Transuion site. There was a huge difference in the two. Why?

Are Transunion's TrueCredit credit scores the same as FICO scores?

Hello, I am an employee of Fair Isaac involved with the myFICO product. I would like to tell Joel that he is most seriously mistaken. FICO scores are about behavior, not just debt to income numbers. Having no debt and never using it results in a very low FICO score because you become a wild card. Having no current credit history is very detrimental to your FICO score because the analytics have no data to evaluate your behavioral risk. As more companies are using FICO scores as an indication of reliability, such as for car insurance rates, having a low score is not advantageous.

hmm you must have lucked out JD, I remember once (quite a long time ago though) when FICO scores were like $8.95 each.. but as of late, like Single Ma.. I haven't seen them for a cheaper price, in fact I believe they raised the price recently.

If anyone can grab the scores for cheap, definitely go for it. But yeah as Lisa said.. a rather waste of money if you're buying due to curiosity, and definitely watch what you're paying for mentioned.

Lee: clicking on the big orange icon will bring you to the subscription page!

I couldn't agree more- watch out for FAKO scores! I am building credit specifically to leveraging to buy real estate. I sigend up to True Credit earlier this summer and was working to raise my scores- only to watch them go down! After I ran myself over the CreditBoards.com - a fabulous credit resource - I discovered that the scores I was loking at were FAKOs! I had my lender pull hard copies of all three, signed with a Credit Law Firm to help me accomplish my goals. nice timing for this- Single Ma shared the link!

Having recently gone thru the mortgage process and monitoring my credit like a hawk, I've NEVER seen FICO scores for $8/each. I think the cheapest I've ever gotten them was $11 and change AFTER using a 20% off coupon code.

Very well written summary, Cap.

On a re-read: why is this better than just paying myFICO $8/ea for the three individual scores? (I think that's what I paid for one score a few months ago...)

Good comprehensive article!

To me the FICO score is an I love debt score. I am shooting to have mine down to zero in about another six years or so.

I figure if I only buy things that I have enough cash for, then the need for a FICO score goes away. Fifty years ago that was normal, yet today this is somehow weird. Go figure.

Cap, excellent summary on FICO! My recommendation would be that unless you are gearing up for a major purchase (like a car or house), and need to know your score to know what to expect, don't let curiosity get the best of you and pay $40 just to know your FICO score. The things that are going to make the most significant impact on your creditworthiness are going to be your payment histories and amount of debt you have outstanding vs. available. Information about these are usually available (though you may have to do some calculation yourself) on your free credit reports.
