Four Things I’ll NEVER Buy
Posted by Cap in Stop Buying Crap! |![]() |
Any kind of iPod I will never, ever, buy an iPod. They’re a little bit too expensive for my taste. If I ever have to get a mp3 player, I’ll grab some cheap no name brand. It’s a good thing I hate music and have no joy in my life, so I’ll probably never have to buy a mp3 player. |

A Mini-Van It’s not that I hate mini-vans, but I hope I’ll never have to buy one. I’ll buy a fuel-inefficient SUV before I have to get a mini van. Or some crazy crossover that they’ll no doubt make later on. |

Golf Equipments I suck at golf. It’s one of those things that require some amount of patience and body control. No thanks. Are golf carts an exception though? I hope so. |

A Helicopter Not because I don’t like helicopters. Unfortunately, I don’t think I can ever afford one. Every time I’m stuck in traffic, I’ll wish for a helicopter, or a jet pack. I also want to own a solid gold toilet one day, but you know — can’t have everything. |
Feel free to chime in on some things you won’t ever buy.

This helicopter is just $50,000. People drive to work beside me in cars more expensive than that!

I am going to have to disagree with you on the iPod. I have owned cheap mp3 players and they are way more cumbersome to use - constant errors etc.

Gently used iPods are cheap on ebay.

Nick, that helicopter doesn’t look too safe. Plus, chicks will not dig my AirScooter, even if it’s an AirScooter II.
And yeah sorry, but unlike most people my age, I hate iPods. I know you can get them for “reasonable” price if you hunt for one.. but no thanks.

Very, very wrong on the iPod. Its popularity is based on style, functionality, ease of use, etc.
I’ve owned Creative and other brands, and they can be likened to stinky rat turds (except iRiver, which is pretty cool).
But, since you have no joy in your life (which is totally sweet), I understand.
I’m with you on golf equipment. “Hey, let’s buy a crazy-looking bag full of metal sticks, each costing fifteen hundred dollars! It will be totally fun!”

IPods are fine.. love them or hate them. But, don’t be an Ipod hater! :-D

grr, iPod hater for life here. iTunes is wack, IMO. Course I never owned one or used one, so my opinion is biased & worthless. I know there’s third party software, but still - no thanks!
I’m glad someone agreed w/ me on the golf clubs. What an expensive sport. heh.

A fuel-inefficient SUV first? Why? I own (or at least my creditors own for now) a minivan and a Mustang convertible. We got the van because we had 4 foster kids (no longer with us), but between the 2 vehicles, the van is far and away the more functional. It’s OK on gas (a little better than the ‘Stang) and I can pull the seats out to haul stuff. If anything, I’d trade off or sell the ‘Stang first, even though it’s the cool car.
Totally with you on the golf clubs. A good walk spoiled, if you ask me.
As for the iPod, eh. I can live just fine without it. That’s what CD ripper and burning software is for. I’ll make my own CD’s, and use my PC for an MP3 player.

I agree with you on all but the iPod. Quality costs money. If you shop around, you will come to realize that they are like new Toyota/Lexus’ in a group of used Kia/Fords’. Plus, after a good 2 years, I developed the patience to understand how iTunes works! ;-)
Now if you’re knocking mp3 players in general, rock on! :-D
I would never buy:
- Dasani water(unless I have no choice)
- a Hummer(ever)
- a boat
- rye bread

ooh some good ones there.
Spinners, satellite radio, and Hummer H2 & H3. The H1 is fine IMO.

A minivan? I have 4 kids still needing carseats. An SUV is a PITA with the climbing over and in/out. Seriously….I’m pushing 30mpg with both of my minivans. (A 99 Montana and a 02 Montana - got such good mileage fully loaded I got a second one!)Nevermind the high center of gravity and rollover rate on SUV’s.
