I have one of those Health Rider things. Wasn't too expensive. When I need to lose a quick 5 lbs, works quite well. Probably should and could use it more, but I wouldn't get rid of it. I can't tell you how many times I've needed to lose a quick 5.

frugal momma: you know I was exaggerating about the 10 year thing, when you made me realize that maybe it is from 10 years ago. wow. I'm glad the treadmill you bought wasnt put to waste, wish my family would have thought a bit more about it.

caitlin: lol, thanks for the comments. I have a feeling we're not the only ones with all these stuff in our household.

yeah I went from single issue comic collections to TPB, nowadays I just dont read them. dont really have time to, unfortunately. It's too bad the street price on comics have went down significantly lately..

well shoes and all that, I'm sure you can just get what you need.. its all about moderation. if you really do use it, why not.

but I suppose if you're filthy rich, why not too.

Cap, I just read the "series" start to finish, it's a great collection! It seems we share MANY crap fetishes LOL. A few things I have done to reduce the crap-factor or reduce total cost is:

I Buy comics in trade paperback form only, keep only the true favorites, sell the rest on Amazon Marketplace (cuts cost of TB by about half on average)

I don't buy new games. I wait and buy used console game at EB and sometimes used PC games on Ebay. I find ways to sell or trade what I eventually tire of (EB, Ebay etc)

The combination of iTunes rating system (so I can quickly and easily find my fave music) and the iTunes music store (so I only buy what SONGS I really like) have really saved my music budget and our CD collection hasn't grown in 2 years but we're listening to more music all the time.

Just some suggestions for not giving up what you like, but still being able to stop buying crap :) Oh, I got nothing for the shoes... or exercise equipment (buy/sell on craigslist maybe?)

Great "series"!

hey I know exactly what you mean. Every house that I visit, I see exercise equipments that aren't used. some are elaborate sets.

the gazelle. oh man. it reminds me of Tony Little on it screaming "You can do it!"

hmm. my comments also seem to have been broken after I upgraded to wordpress 2.0 - time to google this

My wife has a gym membership she hasn't used in several months.

My mother gave us one of those aerowalker things.. I can't believe I bothered carrying it home in the car. She still has the gazelle on her porch. Next to an unused stationary bike.

They all take up so much room and they're unused. I walk outside and get some diversity and fresh air instead of running like a rat on wheel.

I have been considering the bowflex, but I think a set of good freeweights would be better suited for me.
