You don’t need to pay for HDTV content. Try plugging in your old antenna – yes, antenna – and hunt around for a nice 720p *digital* signal, complete with 5.1 surround.

TV is a way for people who are shut-ins to feel as if they’re still connected to the rest of the world, especially if the computer is broken, or if they’re not in a position to be use one. There are some pretty decent shows on the History Channel, and the Discovery Channel; not to mention movies on the movie channels. There actually is a time and a place for television, along with everything else. I know that when I’m plugged into a nebulizer and trapped on the couch, not able to do anything else (including read), I’m surprisingly grateful for the set that I was given.

Back in the day our elders used to call them “idiot boxes” and “boob tubes”.

What do you find to watch that is actually worth the time? And worth having 6 tvs? Wow.

We have one. Get 3 channels, all crap programming.

Life is short. Go for a walk, talk, read a book. Help others. TURN OFF THOSE TVs.

I’ve made a TV set for the bathroom out of an old 14″ LCD monitor, a cable box, and some active speakers. That’s the most important set in the house. It’s nailed to the wall.

You know what would be better than having a second (third, fourth) TV set? A news ticker like they have at the bank! With RSS-feeds! And shopping alerts! And stocks! Yeah!
