As long as people keep paying more than something is really worth, those producing and selling this stuff will keep doing it.
Stop paying the $4.50 for a hot dog at the baseball game and the vendors would quickly drop their price to a realistic level. As long as people keep paying $4.50 the price ain’t gonna change for something only worth about 10 cents.

That’s not cool… $129 to have a baby WITHOUT the sex? WHO WANTS THAT????

Elissa, babies resulting from sex cost a helluva lot more than $129!! >>GRIN

Wow! that is a scarey looking doll. I don’t know how any parent could spend $130 on a doll.

Indeed, these dolls are VERY CREEPY! However, if you’re a single person living in the SF Bay Area (or other highly congested area), I wonder if it would be worth it to purchase one of these dolls, then pick up a car seat for cheap at Goodwill, then strap them both in the back seat and drive in the diamond lanes during commute time! Could save enough on gas that it would eventually pay for itself, not to mention all the TIME saved by zipping through the carpool lane! :-)

@Ursula – LOL!
But I agree. Creepy. I’d spend $129 on someone *real* real instead.

I’d rather have a real one but I’ve always wondered who bought these…I really like the carpool idea. Smart thinking!

Very Creepy…
It’s even creepier if someone out there actually buys one.

creepy…perhaps the same target market as pumpkin sweaters, santa claus earrings, and little crystal bunny rabbits carrying baskets?

MAYBE LITTLE GIRLS WOULD LIKE THESE BABIES TO PLAY WITH. I KNOW I WOULD HAVE DIED FOR ONE WHEN I WAS A GIRL.

Okay…people lets get real! These are intended for little girls! As a Mom of six I know my little girls would be amazed to get one of these breathing baby dolls. I think they are incredible! If they were a little less money I would be getting all my girls one! Not sure what part of the doll creeps you out but there is nothing at all creepy about it.

I think it is sad that people make fun of toys like this. I did buy my 3 grand daughters a doll that looks real and they all love them. I think people are just looking for something to complian about when they do their complaining about something like this. So sad. I just think they could be a little less in cost. If they were I would get each of my girls another one. Have a nice day and stop making fun of a nice thing.

I think this doll is the most adorable thing ever! I think that if you get it it will teach you how to take care of a real baby. And I DONT think that it is creepy I think you guys are haters…ducesz!

I’ve heard urban myths about these dolls being ‘rescued’ from the back seat of cars… I guess you need to factor in the cost of a new window to that price.

Anon & others: Just a note that the post was in jest and for fun and not a knock at those who collect these as a hobby.

Oooh, how I love dolls since I don’t have children. It is true that the average doll is pure dee crap, but I’d rather have a basic cell phone and a used computer that meet my needs and a houseful of dolls.
$100 is about my limit for dolls. I will pay anywhere from fifty cents to 100 bucks for a doll I like!
Go ahead, make fun of my doll habit! My babies are quietly resting around my house, while noisy cell phones are going off in public places and people are screaming on them!
Merchandisers like Ashton Drake and Franklin Mint know that certain people are suckers for costly dolls and car replicas, so they make them.
Sites like Stop Buying Crap help us learn to conserve our money on crap that has no meaning to us so we’ll have more for what we want!
