Best. $3.25. Ever.
Posted by Cap on November 30, 2005 |The site’s full of contradiction. I probably post more stuff to buy than stuff not to buy.
If you’re ever in California, or select locations in Arizon and Nevada, you must blow some money (& health) on In-N-Out burgers. If they ever go public, I’m blowing my life savings on them—even if their balance sheet is a joke. Now that’s brand loyalty!

I see those when I travel to the west coast… never stopped in one, though I’ve heard great things. Why haven’t they expanded out to the east coast yet?
November 30th, 2005 at 9:07 pm
FMF: yeah it’s seriously the only fast food chain that I can say “I love it” with a straight face.
Flexo: I’m not really sure why they don’t have plans to expand.. it’s been a private family owned business since forever, I believe. So they probably want to retain control over their operation.

I love in&out even though i’m an east coast native… i always make sure to get a pair of the burgers when i’m out in cali.
part of their allure is the small burger chain feel, even though they’re probably not that small of a chain :)

yeah they’re practically everywhere in California.. but I know what you mean by small chain feel, many of their locations are quite old and still have the mom and pop feel to them.

My wife, who NEVER eats ground beef had a craving (pregnancyrelated) for a hamburger. She went to an In-N-Out and loved it. She even had another craving for one when we were in the South over Thanksgiving, but alas no In-N-Out there. She went without, instead of settling for something else.

My wife and I love In-N-Out. Unfortunately, none are here in Utah. We look for them when we travel to California, Arizona, and Nevada. Oh well, they probably wouldn’t seem so good it we could get them anytime we wanted.

chree: oh my!
sam: I think you have a point though, it’s not something you can eat everyday and not get sick of. It’s not THAT good.
wow so many people love in-n-out! I’m surprise because so far it’s people that don’t live near it.

My father had serious emergency heart surgery a few years ago in New Mexico. In the elevator, his heart surgeon said to me “so you’re from California… the one thing I miss from there is In-and-Out Burgers…” You gotta laugh.

Oh, I SO miss In-N-Out! I grew up on that stuff. :D

mary: LOL
ari: you should come visit and relive your childhood memories.
this just in, In & Out is the best thing ever, and the most commented post in a “personal finance” blog.
woot!

Animal style is the only way to go. YUUUUMMM. Good food invokes such visceral responses!
December 8th, 2005 at 1:00 pm
They are the best!
2 cheeseburgers spread and pickles only, protein style!

I read about this chain in Fast Food Nation. It received the highest honors for the excellent quality of its hamburgers and french fries. Unfortunatly, there’s no In-N-Out in Seattle. Boo-hoo!

Yes, they are AWSOME!!! I very rarely eat red meat, but make an exception for In-N-Out Burger. We’ve moved from CA Bay Area to the East Cost and unfortunately do not have them here. Very Sad :-(

You are torturing me here!! I live in Arkansas and have not had an In & Out Burger, or their decadent french fries in almost 15 years!!!!!!

This is for “Seattle Simplicity”, if you ever make it to the Bremerton/Silverdale area they have one there. Not quite worth the drive all the way from Seattle I am sure, but in case you are in the area.

what? lies. there’s one in Washington? wow.
well skye, if you ever come to southern california for vacation, I will treat you to in-n-out. burger and fries only—no drinks.

See below for link to BoingBoing posting describing group of “drunken gluttons” testing the add-a-patty-for-a buck deal by ordering and eating a 100-patty In-N-Out hamburger.

I *heart* In-N-Out. I love them. Look for the Jesus messages on the bottom of their cups and fries. I think that’s part of their quirky charm, the little evangelical citations. Good good good food. The key is their food is really fresh. I think that’s probably why they’ve been slow to expand, quality control. They didn’t come to to NorCal till around 1999.

I used to live in the L.A. area,(Baldwin Park) where the original I/O Burger was and I was glad to see they have expanded to other areas, like Chandler, Az. where I now live. They won’t get rich on me, but I find it hard to pass one up.

A few years ago I was out visiting family in CA. My cousin took me to In-N-Out – SOOO GOOD! I wish we had them here, but unfortunately I’m stuck in boring Indiana where the closest thing to compare it to is Rallys. By the way, cool site! It was featured in a Yahoo! article and I plan to check out the rest.

I try not to eat out too much (to save my wallet and my stomach), but when I’m in the mood for a good burger, nothing hits the spot quite like In-N-Out!
August 24th, 2006 at 12:02 pm
I’m from Indiana too, but my personal favorite is Steak & Shake, which is right up there with I/O. When I came to LAX once I had an I/O burger and loved it!!!
