Woops, Bought a Bookcase
Posted by Cap on June 19, 2008 |I know. It’s not very exciting.
Pre-ordering the latest iPhone; splurging on a Pleo; or painting my car in ‘race flame red’ would all be a more exciting headline. But alas, being the boring hermit that I am, I bought a $30 bookshelf at IKEA.
After all, I need a sensible place to put my adult material DVDs — I mean, reference books for personal development…
Right. That’s it. Reference books.
One gripe: the IKEA site listed the bookcase as $19.99, but the store in Costa Mesa, CA has it for $29.99. Oh well.

You know, I bought the very same bookcase a year ago in the same store, and it was $19.99. Guess they’ve increase the price since then.

I have that same bookcase and it definitely comes in handy for various storage. Plus, bookcases filled with books you never read or want to read again (like science text books) make you look smarter! :)

Well, you could always do what I do and print out the advertisement from online, take that and your receipt to the store and ask if there is any way that you could get the $10 back.

IKEA seems to be really hit or miss with matching prices, but like stephanie says, if you take the ad, they will honor it

I think the price difference is because of regional pricing, but you guys are right, doesn’t hurt to try! I’ll get my $10 credited back to the CC the next time I’m in the area.

Is there no back, or is the backing not wood-colored? $30 is still cheap though for that size.

Yeah the backing isn’t wood-colored. Just a thin sheet of.. something.
